Area 4 Hunter Trials Team Qualifier

Thursday, February 23rd, 2012

Title: Area 4 Hunter Trials Team Qualifier
Location: Frickley Hall Nr Doncaster
Description: This is a NEW event for 2012 and is based on an old fashioned hunter trial.
The event is open to Teams only and will consist of 2 riders doing a 70cm course of xc fences and 2 riders doing a 80cm course.
• This is a new team of 4 competition for 2012.
• AREA 4 will not be doing direct entry to the final but will hold a qualifier where 3 teams will qualify.
• this was agreed by the committee at one of the area meetings last year.
• NO prelim fee is required.
• Although not set in concrete I am looking at £50 a team
• there will be 2 courses a novice and an intermediate.
• 2 members will do the novice course at 70cm and 2 members will do the intermediate course at 80cm.
• Teams can consist of any combination of junior or senior members i.e. 4 seniors, or 3 juniors and 1 senior, or 2 seniors and 2 juniors etc…….
• I think we can cope with 52 teams during the day so in the first instance I suggest that we limit the number of teams to 3 per club and then if space accept additional entries if we have space, on a 1st come 1st served basis and to be allocated after the closing date.
Attached are directions for the Hunter trial at Frickley. Directions for the 2012 Hunter Trial at Frickley Hall
Please heed Denise’s reminder that they are due in this Friday.
It would help me if you could let me know:-
• how many teams your club are putting in.
• which clubs want to put more than 3 teams in.
The scoring can be under any rules, our qualifier will run as follows:-
• optimum time (the speed for both sections is 450 mpm)
• Clear round wins – if there is a tie then the closest under opt time gets the place
• No knockdown fences
• No gate etc
• No timed section
The following scenario should help:-
Jann completes clear and is on the optimum time
Richard completes clear but is 5 seconds under
Denise takes a scenic route and is 5 seconds over but also clear
1st Jann
2nd Richard
3rd Denise
Then we repeat the process with those with penalties
Place everyone 1 – 40 (or whatever) in each section with 1 point for coming first, 2 second………..
best 3 scores count – team with lowest number of points win
A reminder about the declaration sheets please make sure that the point/money won column is completed, if they do not have any then put NIL in the box.

POSTPONED – Bishop Burton on Sunday

Thursday, February 9th, 2012

Morning all,

With more snow and deep freeze on the way we have taken the decision to POSTPONE!

The decision to postpone has been a difficult one to take (I think the last time was the dressage when we were flooded some years back) but now taken it is quite a relief.

We have also taken the decision that the combined training competition should be on a separate day if we can.

As soon as the dates and venues are sorted I will let you know, obviously what ever date is produced I am very aware that it will not suit all so apologies in advance.

I will obviously do my best for the majority of our members.

PLEASE NOTE HOWEVER THAT BISHOP BURTON IS OPEN AS USUAL FOR BUSINESS (please check their website for details of upcoming events)”Can I make it clear that we as a venue are open for business, we have a full day of dressage scheduled on saturday and will not have to make the decision to cancel that unless we have more snow (which may or may not happen). I am anxious that it is made clear that your cancelling Sunday is precautionary as the only areas we cannot currently use are the outdoor arenas.

I dont want people put off coming to Saturdays show or trying to book for Sunday because your show is off, as currently we are operating as normal and roads and car parks are all clear and gritted and indeed full of about 1,000 people for a farming open day that is on in the arena.

As a venue we are open for business and that we take risk assessment and safety very seriously and would immediatly cancel anything that presented a risk to horse, vehicle or human. We will keep our website updated as to the status of our events and opportunities to hire if anyone is in any doubt.” Kim Knightley Equine Director Bishop Burton College 01964 553087

Thanks and cheers Richard.

Update and times for Bishop Burton 12th Feb 2012

Monday, February 6th, 2012

Hi
I have attached a plan for the site as some people may not have been before. Plan Please also make sure you don’t use you sat nav to find the entrance, they have a tendency to send you though the old entrance. THIS WILL NOT GET YOU IN, YOU WILL BE TURNED BACK. You need to enter by the new entrance, about a half mile to the west of the village on the A1079. Then follow the signs for the equestrian centre.
If you are arriving in a car without a trailer, you must use the main car park, you will not be allowed to park in the box park, we simply do not have the room.
There is no smoking allowed on site even in the open air. If you do need to smoke, you can do it inside your vehicles.
Riders going to the dressage arenas must cross at the horse crossing point where there will be a steward, they should then ride along the horse walk and not along the road (arrows on plan).
Please keep your horse in walk unless you are in a designated warm up area. There will be no room for any lunging of horses in the warm up areas. Space in the warm up areas is limited and a limit will be set on the maximum number of horses to be allowed in at any one time, so please check with the steward before entering.
I hope the above does not sound too “jobsworth”

Lets hope for a swift thaw and sunshine for next Sunday.

Denise
